Impact Initiatives
MassHousing joins residents, community-based organizations, property management staff and other stakeholders to develop and support programs and activities that advance equitable opportunities for residents of affordable housing communities.
Summer Youth Employment
The MassHousing Summer Youth Employment Program is designed to ensure young people living in MassHousing-financed properties and affordable housing developments in Boston and the Commonwealth's Gateway Cities have access to summer jobs and related programming. MassHousing seeks to support initiatives that provide meaningful employment, career exploration, leadership development and community engagement opportunities.
This year, the funding cycle for the Summer Youth Employment Program will run from July through mid-September. The Request for Proposals has closed for 2024. If you have questions about the Summer Youth Employment Program, please contact Gloria Brand.
Housing Stability Grants
MassHousing's Housing Stability Department is offering funding opportunities to support our multifamily borrowers and business partners in cultivating thriving communities for their residents. Grants will be awarded to initiatives that promote housing stability and address social determinants of health. Areas for funding may include but are not limited to economic stability and mobility; education access; health and wellness; neighborhood and environmental needs; and the building of social and community networks.
Resident Programs
Engaging programs support healthy housing communities
Multifamily developments enrolled in TAP, MassHousing's Tenant Assistance Program, can access diverse on-site programs and workshops that help residents, resident associations and site staff maintain enjoyable and healthy housing communities.
Sites select and schedule arts & entertainment, education and wellness programs. The number of free programs for TAP member sites is based on the number of apartments at the site.

Youth Resident Activities Program (Youth RAP)
Youth RAP was created to fill gaps in resources for young people by providing meaningful activities and programs that address some of the fundamental needs of young residents of MassHousing-financed properties. The program began in 1991 and is currently paused as we gather community input and explore needs and opportunities for moving forward.
